August 1st will be performances from our members using special, traditional, or classic magical apparatus – that stuff in the corner of your magic room that you always look past when choosing a trick to perform. But now’s your time to get it out, dust it off, and amaze everyone with something that’s “An Oldie But Goodie”. No card or coin tricks unless they are quite special and involve apparatus, please.
Sign up today for your performance at the August 1st IBM Ring 50 meeting contact Stan Hillard [LDHSEH@verizon.net]. See you there.

If someone asks you to do a trick, what is your go-to trick? When you are out and about and some knows you are a magician, what can you remove from your pocket and show them? Are you prepared to show them some amazing magic? That’s the theme for the Ring 50 June 6th meeting night. Come prepared to be called upon to show us your “Go-to Trick” from your pocket. The meeting will take place at the Holiday Inn, 2460 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA following a short business meeting at 7:30 PM.
In addition to this we will be having our annual elections for next year's Ring 50 officers. If you would like to be a candidate for any of the Ring positions please let Marc Carrion (Treasurer@IBMRing50.Org) know so that he may include you on the list of candidates.

Sharpen up your skills and compete at the April 4th meeting for the Dan Lacey Memorial Trophy and the title “Magician of the Year”. The winner will receive a rotating trophy, a spot to perform at the 2019 Ring 50 Magi-Whirl Gala show, and a free 2019 convention registration. All paid-up Ring 50 members both new and veteran members can seek the title. A panel of judges will declare the winner.
The late Dan Lacey was a president of Ring 50 (1999-2000) who inspired others--especially newcomers to magic—to hone their skills. The contest provides an opportunity to recognize the exceptional magic skills of our members. The contest was started in 2003 to honor the deceased magician.
Contact Larry Lipman, Ph 703-859-8526 or President@IBMRing50.org if you are interested in being in the competition.

The March 7th meeting of Ring 50 will feature a lecture by Mike Hummer on Performing for Kids when you are not a kids magician. You'll learn amazing kid-style magic routines that work for birthday parties, churches, schools, and more! This lecture will teach you techniques that are EASY to perform, but is both FUNNY and AMAZING to your audience. These are routines that work as well for a small group of children in a home as they do for a group in an auditorium: bring a notebook and be ready to learn a ton of practical magic techniques for children. And of course, you’ll have a LOT of fun too!
See you at Holiday Inn Alexandria – Carlyle, 2460 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA. Meeting starts at 7:30 PM. Lecture will follow after a short business meeting.
