Ray Kosby to Lecture June 7th

    Ray Kosby is one of the most creative close-up magicians you will see. He comes up with original and often offbeat effects and his methods are just as wild. The strength behind his magic is that his routines will fool you. Audiences gasp at his effects -- when they are not speechless all they can say is, WOW! He will absolutely fool you.

You will learn how Ray accomplishes some of these impossibilities. His card magic is quick, visual, and is guaranteed to have a powerful impact on any audience. Ray has been a magic creator and hobbyist for decades. His routines are very creative in both effect and method.

          His effects are direct and often visual. If your magic skills include sleight of hand, you will find something to use. The skill level ranges from basic to are you kidding. Ray has lectured in Great Britain, France, Japan, Portugal, Spain, and the United States. His material has been published in DVDs, books and magazines.

The lecture will be held at Hampton Inn and Suites, 5821 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA at 7:30 PM. The lecture is free to Ring 50 paid-up members. All other magicians may attend the lecture for a $20 fee.

Dan Lacey Competition to Pick Title Holder “Magician of the Year”

Sharpen up your skills and compete at the May 3^rd meeting for the Dan Lacey Memorial Trophy and the title “Magician of the Year”. The winner will receive a rotating trophy and a spot to perform at the 2018 Ring 50 Magi-Whirl and a free convention registration.

All paid-up Ring 50 members both new and veteran members can seek the title. A panel of judges will declare the winner.

The late Dan Lacey was a president of Ring 50 (1999-2000) who inspired others--especially newcomers to magic—to hone their skills. The contest provides an opportunity to recognize the exceptional magic skills of our members. The contest was started in 2003 to honor the deceased magician. Kozmo to Lecture April 5th

Kozmo, is acknowledged to be one of the top street performers in the world today. He will begin his lecture with a performance of his professional street act. This is a treat in and of itself. Kozmo will proceed to explain each effect in his street act. He pushes the envelope by teaching you why he has chosen each effect and why he has placed each effect where it is in his act.

You will hear Kozmo talk about conditions on the street. He will give you his thoughts on how to make your “hats” bigger.

Lecture will start after a short Ring 50 business meeting. Lecture will be held at Hampton Inn and Suites in Alexandria VA (5821Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA) at 7:30 PM.

The Lecture is free to Ring 50 members. All other magicians must pay a $20 fee.

Ring 50 March 1st Meeting

  For the March meeting Ring 50 President Louis Meyer wants members to perform tricks from the Ring 50 booklet “Fifties Nifties” that was received at the January & February meetings.
